Week 3
With the third week of this unit you skills on calculating volume and surface area will be assessed. It is strongly recommended that you visit the sites from the prior two week to refresh your memory and go to the GeometryWeb Wiki and familiarize yourself with the tools and tips for the properties of Geometric Solids, finding Volume, and Surface Area.
Initially visit the Illuminations Lesson Page and complete
- Lesson 3 – Looking for patterns
- Lesson 4 – Construction of a Solid
- Lesson 5 – Making a Shape Jacket
- At the GeometryWeb Wiki discuss the challenges of creating your own solid out of straws and paper.

|
Now go to the Classzone Assessment Page
- Complete the Chapter 12 Surface Area and Volume Test
- Report you final score to jvrtis@lths.net
- At the GeometryWeb Wiki discuss that skills helped you achieve your score and what additional help would be needed for more success.
|
|
Finally visit the GoGeometry Solid Space Page
- Find an article about one of the Geometric Solid topics
- Skim the article to see if it does involve a concept for this unit
- If the article works, post your summary on why you choose this article and how it uses the concepts of geometric solids from this chapter. Post summary and link to the article at GeometryWeb Wiki

Hopefully this has helped you understanding of Geometric Solids. Next week will be the summary of all 12 topics. Looking at the posted summaries from the first six topic and then assess those topics. We will conclude with same summary and assessment from the final 6 week. If you have any questions or have difficult with the links please contact your instructor at jvrtis@lths.net.
